Antalya

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, has announced that Antalya Airport will increase its annual passenger capacity from 35 million to 82 million with the opening of new Terminal Buildings and other services in 2025.

Both International and Domestic Terminals expanded

The Minister announced that the International Terminal will be expanded from 90,000 square metres to 224,000 square metres, while the Domestic Terminal will be expanded to from 36,800 square metres to 75,000 square metres. This would allow for a total passenger capacity of 82 million people to be carried per year. A ceremony to commemorate the opening of the buildings will be attended to by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Talking about the new facilities, Uraloglu said: “The number of aircraft parking positions, which was 108, has increased to 176 with the new apron areas. The existing VIP Terminal has been expanded from 690 square metres to 2,000 square metres, and the General Aviation Terminal has grown from 1,200 square metres to 2,800 square metres. Additionally, a new 2,000 square metre State Guesthouse, a 5,000 square metres Service Building, and staff housing have opened.”

A total of 39 million passengers served in 2024

Recent data released by the Turkish Government showed that Antalya Airport served a total of 39.2 million passengers on 234,000 international and domestic flights in the year 2024. Of this number, 32.9 million passengers arrived on 188,700 international flights, while 6.2 million passengers arrived on 45,300 domestic flights.

Uraloglu noted that despite the construction work being done, transportation and tourism in Antalya had not been affected. Antalya is one of the most-visited cities in Europe and is home to several must-see landmarks, beaches, golfing, and more. Uraloglu finished by saying: “Our airport continues to provide uninterrupted service with all necessary construction precautions as per national and international regulations.”
